About

Examining the fusion of music and aesthetics—album covers, titles, and the broader visual identity of artists.

Welcome to Eye-Catching Sounds! I’m Justin, a CD collector from Australia with a passion for music spanning from the '60s to today—whether it’s jazz, pop, rock, AOR, prog or heavy metal, I thoroughly enjoy all of these genres and their many off-shoots.

For me, music is more than just sound—it’s a fusion of sight and sound that shapes its narrative, from album art and band logos to the overall visual identity of musicians. The visual elements surrounding music have always fascinated me, adding depth and storytelling that go beyond melodies and lyrics.  This blog was born from that fascination—I enjoy uncovering thematic links in album covers—sometimes deeply meaningful, sometimes purely aesthetic—but always captivating.

Through this space, I aim to highlight hidden gems, revisit classics, and celebrate the dynamic interplay between visuals and sound that makes music such an immersive experience.

In each post, I spotlight two albums with a shared theme, explain the theme, and share a fun historical fact about it. I’ll provide background information and my impressions of each album, aiming for variety by including different genres and featuring at least one album I’m not already familiar with—pushing myself to discover something new with every post. Finally, I wrap up with honourable mentions—other albums that fit the theme but didn’t take centre stage
